Why You Need A Professional
Wiring a freestanding hot tub or spa is not your typical DIY project. Electrical wiring for a hot tub/spa requires a lot of knowledge around knowing voltage and amperage and you must be very careful.
Electrical work and repairs around water can be especially dangerous due to the high risk of shock or electrocution. This is not a project you want to mess up! You can be left with serious injuries or even death if you have a mishap.
To operate a hot tub safely and efficiently, you will need a dedicated 240C GFC circuit that is powered by at least 100 amps. If you own a home older than 20 years, it may not be properly suited to safely handle this increased electrical load. An electrician also knows how to install a manual disconnect device between the breaker and the spa to ensure against false trips.
